Zakażenia pałeczkami Salmonella u drobiu i ludzi: aktualne wyzwania i przyszłe kierunki

Rodzaj Salmonella obejmuje dwa gatunki S. bongori i S. enterica (38). Największe znaczenie epidemiologiczne ma podgatunek Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica. Serowary zaliczane do tego podgatunku od dawna uznawane są za poważną przyczynę chorób zarówno w krajach rozwiniętych, rozwijających się i słabo rozwiniętych, co świadczy o znaczeniu tych bakterii w kontekście zachorowalności i śmiertelności u ludzi (6).
