Epidemiologia i patogeneza zakażeń astrowirusowych u kur i indyków

Astrowirusy chociaż zidentyfikowane u drobiu grzebiącego już w latach 80-tych ubiegłego wieku wciąż w awiopatologii stanowią zagadkę. Wiązane są ze słabymi przyrostami masy ciała, stanami patologicznymi jelit (enteropatiami), zapaleniem nerek czy chorobą białych piskląt. Jednak podobne astrowirusy wielokrotnie izolowano także od ptaków klinicznie zdrowych. W populacji ptaków krąży wiele szczepów astrowirusowych niezwykle zróżnicowanych genetycznie/antygenowo o nieznanej patogenności.
