Antybiotyki i chemioterapeutyki – czy to jedyna droga do zapewnienia zdrowia drobiu rzeźnego?

Intensywny rozwój technologii w przemyśle rolniczym, selekcja ptaków hodowlanych mająca na celu maksymalizację wydajności produkcyjnej, tworzenie coraz lepiej zbilansowanych mieszanek paszowych oraz stale rosnąca wiedza wśród hodowców sprawiły, że drobiarstwo jest jedną z najprężniej rozwijających się gałęzi w polskiej gospodarce. Rozwój ten, w przypadku drobiu rzeźnego, nie tylko pozwolił zwiększyć przyrosty masy mięśniowej, ale również umożliwił skrócenie czasu jaki ptaki spędzają w odchowalniach. Nowoczesna produkcja wiąże się jednak ze zwiększoną wrażliwością ptaków na czynniki środowiskowe. Duże zagęszczenie w odchowalniach, zapylenie powietrza, wilgotność ściółki, niska odporność ptaków oraz brak przestrzegania zasad higieny i bioasekuracji na fermie sprzyjają rozwojowi zakażeń (2). Skutkiem takiej intensyfikacji chowu zwierząt jest zwiększone zapotrzebowanie na antybiotyki.
