Dwa oblicza bakterii Enterococcus hirae – od komensala do patogena drobiu

Enterococcus hirae należy do najczęściej izolowanych gatunków enterokoków u drobiu. Bakteria ta posiada dwa oblicza, z jednej strony jest składnikiem fizjologicznej mikrobioty przewodu pokarmowego drobiu, z drugiej strony jest czynnikiem etiologicznym zakażeń zwłaszcza u kurcząt brojlerów. Może powodować zapalenie kości i szpiku, rozmiękanie mózgu oraz zapalenie wsierdzia, będące przyczyną zwiększonych strat zwykle w 2 tygodniu odchowu.
