Wpływ selekcji genetycznej na różnice rozwojowe kur nieśnych i mięsnych

Prowadzona od kilkudziesięciu lat selekcja genetyczna spowodowała bardzo duży postęp w produkcji drobiarskiej, przyczyniając się do wzrostu cech produkcyjnych oraz opłacalności produkcji związanej z odchowem kurcząt brojlerów i kur nieśnych. Stało się to możliwe nie tylko dzięki metodom genetycznym, ale również dzięki wykorzystaniu nauk zootechnicznych i weterynaryjnych, z uwzględnieniem żywienia, profilaktyki oraz utrzymania ptaków. Selekcja genetyczna różnych cech użytkowych spowodowała duże różnice w mechanizmach wzrostu i rozwoju, a tym samym metabolizmie ptaków. Efektywność intensywnej selekcji genetycznej u kur podczas rozwoju embrionalnego jest widoczna m.in. w różnicach wzrostu i rozwoju, metabolizmie woreczka żółtkowego, hormonów, lipidów oraz wymianie gazowej i termogenezie. Po wylęgu różnice są widoczne u kurcząt brojlerów i kur nieśnych przede wszystkim w spożyciu paszy, tempie wzrostu, efektywności wykorzystania paszy oraz rozwoju mięśni i tkanki tłuszczowej.
